Israel's Prime Minister's Office said Saturday that security around Deputy Minister Almog Cohen and his family would be significantly increased after concrete death threats, the Jerusalem Post reported.
The PMO assigned the Magen unit and reinforced protection through the Shin Bet and Israel Police, with a guard stationed near Cohen's home and a close escort for his family. Cohen's office said it does not comment on security arrangements and that he "will continue to serve the citizens of the State of Israel without any fear."
The step comes in a week when prosecutors filed an indictment against Raz Weinberger, 49, of Ein HaHoresh, over 21 posts on X that allegedly called for the murder of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, ministers, lawmakers and government supporters, including a graphic threat aimed at Cohen.
