Iran's foreign minister reads the midterms as an opening: accept Tehran's terms, or its "warriors rain down hell"

FACTS

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi issued an ultimatum to the White House on Sunday, tying it directly to Tuesday's U.S. midterm results.

"American voters have made their choice. Time for the White House to make its own," Araghchi posted on X. "Our 2-day proposal stands: meet the requirements, including end to war on all fronts, and you will see results. Or choose war, and see our alert and battle-hardened Warriors rain down hell."

Iran International reported the post as a warning that Iran's forces would "rain down hell" if Washington chose war instead of meeting Tehran's demands.

The threat follows Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei's claim this week that "the process of the US's collapse has accelerated." The White House answered that taunt by saying Iran will go "the easy way or the hard way" and that President Trump "holds all the cards," citing U.S. control of the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's collapsing economy.

Trump told CNN on Sunday that Iran is eager to reach a deal, and that renewed strikes would be "highly unlikely" to be necessary as long as there is progress toward an agreement on Iran's nuclear program and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, Iran International reported.
