Memorial to Oct. 7 police commander Jayar Davidov is vandalized in his hometown of Beersheba

Unknown vandals defaced a memorial in Beersheba Creek Park to Israel Police Commander Jayar Davidov, who was killed fighting Hamas terrorists on October 7, 2023, Ynet reported Sunday.

Davidov left his home on the morning of the attack to help police officers under fire. On his way toward the Nova music festival he encountered a squad of about 30 terrorists, rammed their vehicle, charged them and was killed.

His widow said the vandalism "strikes at the soft underbelly, at everyone's heart."

"These are our fallen who sacrificed their lives so that we could live here peacefully," she said.
