Republican Bruce Blakeman cast his ballot for governor at Atlantic Beach Village Hall on Tuesday, News 12 and ABC7 report, greeting supporters and making his final case for change in Albany. Gov. Kathy Hochul, who voted early in Buffalo, spent the morning campaigning in Queens.
Both weighed in on the Westchester scanner failure. "WESTCHESTER! DON'T LEAVE WITHOUT VOTING!" Blakeman posted, telling voters to stay in line and ask poll workers how to cast their ballots. Hochul said she had heard "it could be the wrong size paper," ABC7 reports. The state Board of Elections later blamed a programming update instead.
Blakeman needs the suburbs. In 2022 Lee Zeldin carried both Nassau and Suffolk and came within six points statewide, News 12 notes. The final Siena poll had Hochul up 14 and Marist had her up 11, Fox 5 reports, but Long Island Republicans have made a habit of embarrassing the polls. Polls close at 9 p.m.
