Katie Suarez, the 28-year-old stabbed in the neck while running on the Shore Parkway Greenway in Bath Beach on Friday night, died Monday, her family told CBS New York and ABC7. No one has been arrested.
Police say she left her job at TD Bank at Caesar's Bay around 6:30 p.m., changed into running clothes and headed west along the path. When she did not reach a family gathering about half a mile away, her father went looking and found her near Bay 17th Street. Her phone and jewelry were still with her, and police believe the attack was random and unprovoked, ABC7 reports.
NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said a license plate reader shows about 1,700 cars passed on the Belt Parkway in the window detectives care about, between 7:56 and 8:12 p.m., and police are tracking them down for dashcam video, CBS reports. A $10,000 reward is offered. Anyone who was on the path between Bay 8th and Bay 17th streets that night should call NYPD Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
