Deputy Chief of Staff Richard Walters leaves the White House as Stephen Miller prepares to take over

FACTS

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Richard Walters, a longtime ally of outgoing Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, is leaving the Trump administration after President Trump's decision to replace Wiles with Stephen Miller, Fox News reported Sunday.

Miller confirmed Walters' departure in a statement to Fox News, calling him an "invaluable member" of the White House who "has helped deliver some of the Administration's biggest victories." Walters will "continue to help from the outside," Miller said, as the team works "to deliver for President Trump and his courageous fight to Save America."

The exit is the first visible staffing change ahead of Miller taking over on Monday. Fox reported that Miller is expected to install his own leadership team when he takes the job.
