DSA wave hits Congress — and past comments on 9/11, abolishing ICE and locking up MAGA surface

FACTS

At least six DSA-backed candidates won House seats Tuesday, expanding the socialist bloc alongside Ocasio-Cortez, Omar and Tlaib — and bringing a trail of radical remarks into the next Congress.

Colorado's Melat Kiros called the September 11 attacks "inevitable" because of U.S. policy in the Middle East and has said she wants ICE abolished. New York's Claire Valdez liked a post reading "Glory to the resistance" after Oct. 7 and told El País ICE "just shouldn't exist." Darializa Avila Chevalier, who ousted Rep. Adriano Espaillat, posted that police should be defunded and abolished. Pennsylvania's Chris Rabb said he would "lock all of those" MAGA "thugs" up while calling himself a "decarceration person." California's Angela Gonzales-Torres vowed to block arms to Israel and called the Gaza war a "genocide."

They campaigned on Medicare-for-all and housing — and now arrive with a record that centrist Democrats will have to own or confront.
