Ahead of President Isaac Herzog's consultations on Wednesday and Thursday, the opposition parties agreed in Herzliya on Tuesday to recommend Gadi Eisenkot of Yashar as prime minister. Based on confirmed parties, Eisenkot has 48 recommendations and Benjamin Netanyahu 46, The Jerusalem Post reported.
Otzma Yehudit, Shas and the Religious Zionist Party all said they will recommend Netanyahu; RZP called for a "broad Jewish government." United Torah Judaism, which met Netanyahu on Tuesday for the first time since the October 27 election, said "so far there has not been a single concrete proposal." The Arab-led parties appear to lean toward Eisenkot but have not confirmed.
Eisenkot named his coalition negotiating team, including two former chiefs of staff at the Prime Minister's Office, Yoav Horowitz and Yoram Turbowitz.
