It isn't just Westchester: ballots ran out in Kansas, a bomb threat emptied an Ohio polling place, and broken machines are keeping polls open late in three states

REPORT

Westchester's scanner failure is the biggest Election Day problem so far, but it isn't the only one. Here is what has gone wrong around the country today, what has been fixed, and where voting hours were extended.

Kansas: The Linwood Community Building in Leavenworth County ran out of House District 38 ballots soon after polls opened because the county ordered too few. Voters waited more than an hour while the clerk printed more. The county apologized and asked anyone who left to come back before 7 p.m. local time.

Ohio: Toledo police evacuated Beverly Elementary School, a polling place, after a bomb threat around 10:27 a.m. Voting stopped for about an hour and 15 minutes. Police found nothing, and the site reopened at 12:15 p.m. with four extra ballot-marking devices. Voters who left can return before 7:30 p.m.

Pennsylvania: A Chester County judge kept three precincts open until 8:30 p.m., 30 minutes late, after machine setup problems delayed their opening: Easttown Township Library in Berwyn, St. John's Presbyterian Church in Devon and Goshen Baptist Church in West Chester. Votes cast after 8 p.m. there are provisional.

North Carolina: The state board extended hours at precincts in Columbus, Gates, Lenoir, Wilson and Hertford counties after computer and printer problems. The Tabor City Courthouse precinct stays open until 8:15 p.m., so no statewide results will post before then.

Georgia: Fulton County wants to rescan 1,069 early ballots after two scanners failed during early voting, one when a wheelchair rolled over its power cable. The county board votes on the plan at 6:30 p.m., and the rescan would be done in public view. Separately, fake texts told some Fulton voters their polling place had moved. The county didn't send them. In Gwinnett County, officials asked a judge for seven extra minutes at Rockbridge Elementary in Norcross after a school safety drill paused voting.

Texas: The RNC says voters in several counties checked in, hit a problem and were told to come back later. The RNC says that is wrong and that the Secretary of State is reminding counties of the rules. If you have checked in, don't leave until you have voted.

Michigan: A voting machine went down in Helena Township, Antrim County. RNC observers say the machine was replaced and the ballots were secured in the auxiliary bin, as state law requires.

Florida: Broward County had a 10 to 15 minute systemwide problem this morning. It has been fixed.

None of this stops you from voting. If you are in line when polls close, you get to vote.

Update, Nov. 3 (5:40 p.m.): Michigan: broken tabulators slowed voting at Thurston High School in Redford Township, Eisenhower High School in Shelby Township and Wilkinson Middle School in Madison Heights, plus a polling place in Alaiedon Township near Lansing, state and county officials said. Voters could wait or drop ballots into sealed auxiliary bins, counted later by a Republican and a Democratic inspector. The Attorney General's office said DOJ monitors overstepped twice, asking poll workers in Dearborn and Flint about their training; the DOJ agreed and said it would follow up. The Secretary of State's office says nothing widespread so far.
