Flooding and storms move Election Day polling places: 18 in Florida, plus sites in Oklahoma and Colorado

REPORT

Record rain and flooding have forced election officials in Brevard, St. Lucie, Palm Beach, Indian River, Martin and Okeechobee counties to move Election Day polling places, WPBF and ClickOrlando report.

In Brevard, voters in precincts 307, 309, 512 and 525 will vote at New Shiloh Christian Center; 306, 323 and 509 at the Joseph N. Davis Community Center; and 517 at the Palm Bay City Hall Council Chambers. The supervisor of elections asks voters to check VoteBrevard.gov.

In St. Lucie, voters assigned to the Fort Pierce Masonic Lodge go to the Days Inn Midtown, and voters from Oak Hammock K-8 and DAV Hall go to the Port St. Lucie Community Center. Okeechobee Precinct 10 moves to High Point Church, 4550 N. Hwy 441. In Palm Beach County, Casa Rio Clubhouse voters go to RB Preparatory and Ironhorse Country Club voters to the North County Senior Center. In Martin County, Grace Presbyterian voters go to the Supervisor of Elections office. In Indian River, Precinct 7 moves to the Sebastian Elks Lodge and Precinct 26 to the iG Center.

Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Voters should check their county supervisor of elections site before heading out.

Update, Nov. 3 (Election Day): At least 18 polling places have been moved across seven Florida counties, Brevard, Highlands, Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee, Palm Beach and St. Lucie, after up to 22 inches of rain in 24 hours, NBC News reports. Brevard County's list of relocated precincts is posted by WKMG News 6. Weather also moved voting elsewhere: Oklahoma moved a Cimarron County site after tornado damage, Colorado moved a voter center in Archuleta County (Pagosa Springs) to the county courthouse, and Utah allowed some flood-hit San Juan County voters to return ballots electronically, NBC News and Newsweek report. The Florida Division of Elections keeps the official list, which can change during the day.

Update, Nov. 3: In Utah, flood victims in San Juan County can request and return their ballots electronically under an emergency declaration from the lieutenant governor's office, as long as they are submitted by 8 p.m., according to the state's posted declaration. In Broward County, Florida, a 10 to 15 minute systemwide problem at voting sites this morning has been fixed, WSVN reports.
