First flip of the night comes from Guam: Republicans Tony Ada and EJ Calvo win the governor's race, ending eight years of Democratic control

FACTS

The first results of Election Day came from Guam, 14 hours ahead of New York, and they went to the Republicans. Vice Speaker Tony Ada and running mate EJ Calvo won the governor's race with 15,945 votes (51.45%) to 14,925 (48.15%) for Democratic Sens. Therese Terlaje and Sabina Perez, with all 59 precincts counted, according to the Guam Election Commission's final unofficial results reported by the Pacific Daily News and The Guam Daily Post. Terlaje called Ada to concede. Marianas Press reports the win ends the Democrats' eight-year hold on the governor's office.

Republicans also took eight of the 15 seats in the Legislature, reversing the early count. Democrats had a win of their own: Democrat Alicia Limtiaco unseated Republican Del. James Moylan for Guam's nonvoting seat in Congress, 51% to 48.84%. In the attorney general race, Phillip Tydingco beat incumbent Douglas Moylan. Off-island ballots will be counted Nov. 19, and the results still need to be certified.
