IDF chief Zamir warns Hezbollah: any threat to northern communities "will be met immediately and forcefully"

FACTS

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir warned Hezbollah on Wednesday against trying to reestablish itself near Israel's northern border, JNS reports.

"We will not allow Hezbollah to establish terrorist infrastructure in the area," Zamir said during a visit to Northern Command and troops in southern Lebanon. Any attempt to threaten northern communities "will be met immediately and forcefully," he said.

Zamir said Hezbollah had shown during the war that it is an "Iranian proxy and not a Lebanese patriot," and added: "If required, we will know how to expand our achievements."

The IDF says it remains committed to the ceasefire agreement with Beirut.
