The Israel Defense Forces is refining procedures for a possible major operation against Iran and preparing strike plans against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon if that front reopens, Ynet reported Friday, citing Israeli defense officials.
Forces along the Lebanese border continue clearing operations while shifting more effort into preparing positions and adapting procedures for winter. Military planning, Ynet said, accounts for the possibility that a renewed Iran campaign could involve another round of fighting in Lebanon.
Defense officials are waiting on Washington's next move and on how any renewed campaign would be scoped. Ynet said no dramatic U.S. force buildup has been detected beyond reinforcements in southern Israel and some Arabian Sea movements, but officials emphasize the picture can change quickly.
The report comes as Israel and the United States weigh how — and whether — to resume pressure on Tehran after midterm elections in both countries. The IDF, Ynet wrote, is maintaining readiness rather than standing down.
