Indiana, Florida and Alabama carry out rare same-day triple execution

FACTS

Indiana, Florida and Alabama each put a man to death Thursday — the second time this year three U.S. inmates were executed on the same day — Fox News reported.

Indiana executed Jeffrey Weisheit, 50, after midnight for a 2010 house fire that killed his girlfriend's children, ages 8 and 5; Gov. Mike Braun denied last-minute commutation and brain-scan requests. Florida executed Jesse Guardado, 64, at 6:13 p.m. for the 2004 stabbing of Jackie Malone, 75, matching the state's single-year record of 19 executions. Alabama executed Michael Taylor, 54, for the 1991 beating deaths of Ivan and Lucille Moore during a home robbery; Gov. Kay Ivey declined clemency.

Fox noted the prior 2026 triple day was Aug. 13 and that before that the last U.S. triple execution day was January 2010. The executions landed the same day California Gov. Gavin Newsom moved to commute all 548 death sentences in his state.
