Israeli defense official: Iran has no chemical capability that threatens Israel right now; "if necessary, we will know how to act"

FACTS

"At this point, Iran has no chemical capability that poses a threat to the State of Israel," a senior Israeli defense official told ynet on Wednesday.

The remarks followed a New York Times report that Israel had warned the United States it had intelligence indicating Iran was considering using chemical weapons against its enemies. "We are monitoring the threat, and if necessary, we will know how to act and inform the public," the official said.

The Times also reported that the U.S. and Israeli militaries had developed plans to resume strikes on Iran after the midterm elections, ynet reports.
