Progressives fume after Jeffries says Democrats won't try to "get even" with Trump

FACTS

House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries said Wednesday that Democrats will not use their new majority to settle scores with President Trump, drawing anger from progressive commentators, Fox News reports.

"The American people don't want us to get even; they want us to get things done on their behalf because life is way too expensive," Jeffries said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe." "We ran on affordability. We won on affordability, and now it's our job to govern on affordability."

Historian Kevin Kruse called the comments "disheartening," and House Oversight Democrats posted "Lawyer up."

White House spokeswoman Lauren Bis said: "If Democrats choose to pursue sham investigations and radical left policies, they are choosing to work against the American people."
