Jeffries plans first-100-hours blitz: revive Obamacare subsidies, kill tariffs — and force an end to the Iran war

FACTS

Incoming presumptive House Speaker Hakeem Jeffries is preparing a legislative blitz in the first 100 hours after Democrats reclaim the House, aides told outlets Thursday. The package would revive Biden-era enhanced Obamacare subsidies that lapsed last year, reverse roughly $1 trillion in Republican Medicaid cuts, quash Trump's tariffs, and force votes aimed at ending the Iran war.

Expected Majority Leader Katherine Clark said after the election that voters "voted to end the war" and "end the tariffs," and that the House agenda will "reflect back what voters just clearly told us." Democrats intend to move some bills to the floor before key committees are fully organized. Measures would still need 60 votes in the Senate. Progressives including Sen. Bernie Sanders are also pressing for Medicare expansion and AI restrictions. Expected Oversight Chairman Robert Garcia vowed aggressive probes of Trump, his allies and ICE. Interest remains in impeachment moves against War Secretary Pete Hegseth.
