House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, the likely next Speaker, said Sunday that Democrats will not work with President Trump's new chief of staff, Stephen Miller, the New York Post reported.
"Stephen Miller is the architect of Donald Trump's violent mass deportation machine," Jeffries said on ABC's "This Week." He called Trump's choice "an irresponsible decision, in my view."
"There's not going to be any opportunity, certainly, to work with Stephen Miller and what he represents," Jeffries said. He said his party would "forcefully" push back against what he called the administration's extremism and claimed that Tuesday's vote gave lawmakers a "firewall" against it.
The comments came the same morning that Attorney General Todd Blanche told CNN that Democratic leaders started "threatening" Miller within moments of his being named chief of staff. "That's not oversight. That's not governing," Blanche said.
