Voters at the Linwood Community Building in Leavenworth County, Kansas, were told Tuesday morning there weren't enough ballots. The precinct needs two different state House ballots, District 38 and District 42, and the county had not printed enough District 38 ballots. Dozens of people waited more than an hour while election workers printed more and drove them to the site, about 45 minutes from the county election office, KCTV5 and KSHB 41 report.
The county admitted the mistake in a press release: "a ballot shortage occurred at the Linwood Community Building involving the Linwood/Sherman H-38 ballot due to an error in the number of ballots ordered." By late morning the clerk had more than three times the ballots needed, and voting was back to normal, with more than 320 people voting there by then.
If you were turned away, go back. The county asks anyone who couldn't vote to return to the Linwood Community Building, or call the Leavenworth County Clerk's Office at 913-684-0421, before 7 p.m. Anyone in line at 7 gets to vote.
