FACTS
Karmiel's public shelters are open, inspected and ready to use, the northern city announced Tuesday. Mayor Moshe Koninsky ordered them opened about two weeks ago as an early-readiness step, the city says, in case Iran attacks again or the Lebanon border heats up.
"Early preparation and responsibility are the key to protecting residents' safety," Koninsky said. He told residents to keep their normal routine and follow Home Front Command instructions, JFeed and Channel 14 report.
There is no national order behind it. The Home Front Command hasn't changed its guidance. Posts saying Kiryat Shmona and Safed opened their shelters too spread quickly on X Tuesday. We could confirm only Karmiel's own announcement.
