FACTS
Voters at several Knott County, Kentucky, polling places had to wait Tuesday morning, and some reportedly left, because the ballot cards needed to scan their votes were not in the bags sent to the sites, WYMT reported.
"It's just a mistake that we made. And I own up to it," County Clerk Reci Cornett said, adding that every site was running by about 6:30 a.m. County Attorney Tim Bates, who was among those affected, said he heard it happened "at every precinct, and every polling place, and sometimes up to almost an hour."
Officials said there would be no extension of voting hours at the affected locations. Polls in eastern Kentucky closed at 6 p.m. ET.
