Lakewood ballot today: Township Committee (2 seats), fire commissioners, and a question on shrinking the school board

FACTS

Lakewood polls are open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Voters choose two Township Committee members from four candidates: Republicans Deborah Fuentes (incumbent) and Moshe B. Raitzik, and Democrats Raymond Coles (the incumbent mayor) and Samantha L. Stokes, according to the Lakewood Journal and The Lakewood Scoop. Republicans hold a 3-2 majority on the committee.

Raitzik and Fuentes won the June Republican primary, with Raitzik on top at 2,067 votes, according to the New Jersey Globe. Raitzik is currently a Lakewood fire commissioner.

Fire District No. 1: Voters pick two commissioners from Dovid Bender, Larry "Levi" Loigman and Harrison Pfeffer, the Lakewood Journal reports.

School board: A public question asks whether to cut the Lakewood Board of Education from nine members to seven, starting Jan. 1, 2027. A "yes" vote means only one of the three expiring seats would be filled. A "no" vote keeps nine members.

Also on the ballot: U.S. Senate, the House race, and Ocean County commissioner (Frank Sadeghi, R, against Kia Phua, D).
