U.S. intel: Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang had romantic relationship with alleged Chinese spy

FACTS

U.S. intelligence believes Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang had a romantic relationship with Alice Huang (Huang Le), a Megaspeed executive recruited by China's Ministry of State Security to gather information on the chip giant, the Financial Times reported Friday, citing American officials.

A classified memo prepared earlier this year and shared with senior U.S. officials ahead of President Trump's May summit with Xi Jinping said Alice Huang — a Chinese national at the Singapore data-center firm — was tasked with collecting intelligence on Nvidia and influencing advanced-chip access for China. The New York Times had previously reported a close relationship and MSS recruitment; the FT is the first to report the U.S. assessment that the relationship was romantic.

Megaspeed has faced U.S. scrutiny over alleged smuggling of advanced Nvidia chips into China. Nvidia has said Huang meets thousands of customer executives a year and that an internal review found no evidence of illegal conduct; the company declined to comment on the memo. House Republican committee leaders have already sought a closed-door briefing with Jensen Huang on the Alice Huang contacts.
