AP calls OH-10 for Democrat Knickerbocker, unseating longtime GOP Rep. Mike Turner

FACTS

The Associated Press on Thursday afternoon called Ohio's 10th Congressional District for Democrat Kristina Knickerbocker, flipping the Dayton-area seat held by Republican Rep. Mike Turner since 2002, WYSO reported.

With about 97% of the expected vote counted, Knickerbocker led 49.3% to 47.7%, about 4,900 votes, with Libertarian Thomas McMasters at 2.9%. Knickerbocker, an Air Force veteran and nurse practitioner in her first run for office, had declared victory Tuesday night; AP waited until about 2:30 p.m. Thursday to call the close race.

Turner, former Dayton mayor and longtime House Intelligence Committee chair, wished Knickerbocker success and urged the community to come together. The flip is part of the broader Democratic House wave.
