Franklin County, home to Columbus, had reached 69.1% of its total 2024 turnout by 4 p.m., per VoteHub data posted by @JordanSchwartz. Rural, Republican Carroll County was at 57.2%. The gap was about 9 points at 1 p.m. and nearly 12 by 4 p.m.
Up in Toledo, Lucas County has already passed its 2022 midterm turnout of 45.67%, @Jaden_Reports notes from county data. Lucas sits in OH-9, one of the closest House districts in the country. This is the same county where a bomb threat emptied the Beverly Elementary polling place for over an hour earlier today.
Polls in Ohio close at 7:30 p.m. Kalshi has the Democrat at 72% in the Senate race and Amy Acton at 81% against Vivek Ramaswamy for governor.
Our read: Republicans in Ohio usually make up ground on Election Day in places like Carroll. Two hours of after-work voting are left, and rural turnout tends to come late, but so far the cities are running well ahead of the countryside, and that's the opposite of what Republicans need.
Update, 7:30 PM ET: Polls have closed in Ohio.
