Ra'am recommended Yashar leader Gadi Eisenkot as its preferred candidate to form Israel's next government during consultations with President Isaac Herzog on Thursday, The Jerusalem Post reports.
Ra'am Chairman Mansour Abbas said the party backs U.S. President Donald Trump's Gaza peace plan and supports the full disarmament of Hamas. Abbas also said Ra'am in a coalition would make a government stronger and more aware, while insisting the party opposes terrorism and violence.
Earlier Thursday, United Torah Judaism told Herzog it would not recommend anyone, prioritizing protections for Torah students. Otzma Yehudit recommended Benjamin Netanyahu, and Yair Golan's Democrats recommended Eisenkot. Eisenkot is still widely expected to receive the mandate after consultations finish.
