Republican attorneys general outperformed other GOP statewide candidates in Tuesday's midterms and are positioning themselves as a firewall against a Democratic Congress, according to a post-election memo from the Republican Attorneys General Association shared with Fox News.
RAGA Executive Director Adam Piper wrote that with Democrats taking both chambers, Republican AGs are "America's front line and … the last line of defense" against a Democratic wish list that he listed as court packing, the Green New Deal, Medicare for All, Second Amendment restrictions and abolishing ICE.
Piper said GOP AG candidates ran about 4.6 points ahead of Republican Senate candidates in comparable states and about 2.1 points ahead of GOP gubernatorial candidates, even as Republicans lost five AG seats. In Florida, Attorney General James Uthmeier won by 1.8 points, slightly ahead of Gov.-elect Byron Donalds' 1.3-point margin.
