Iran's security chief delivers Khamenei's message to Putin in Moscow — and restates Tehran's seven demands

FACTS

Russian President Vladimir Putin met Iran's Supreme National Security Council secretary Mohsen Rezaei at the Kremlin on Thursday, the Kremlin and Iranian state media confirmed. Rezaei said he delivered a message from Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei; neither side published the message's contents.

After the meeting, Rezaei said the talks covered regional security and postwar arrangements, plus plans for gas pipelines from Russia to Iran. He told reporters Tehran has given Washington seven conditions and that until those are met, Iran will neither reopen the Strait of Hormuz nor negotiate. The Russian Foreign Ministry separately warned citizens against travel to Iran, citing the risk of a new escalation.
