Early voting in Rockland County rose about 81% from the 2022 midterms, Rockland News reports. Statewide, about 1.97 million New Yorkers voted early over the nine days that ended Sunday, up from about 1.18 million in 2022.
The top local races: Rep. Mike Lawler (R) against Democrat Cait Conley in NY-17; state Sen. Bill Weber (R) against Nyack Mayor Joe Rand (D) in the 38th Senate District; Assemblyman Aron Wieder (D) against Republican Rob Bonomolo and Conservative Abraham Klein in the 97th Assembly District; and Assemblyman Patrick Carroll (D) against Republican Brett Yagel in the 96th. In Clarkstown, Supervisor George Hoehmann (R) faces Democrat Eugene Bondar. A county charter amendment on the ballot would require legislative approval for some county executive appointments.
Polls are open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Voters who voted early can't vote again. The Board of Elections is at 845-638-5172.
