Rubio shuts down quit rumors: serving Trump through the end of the term "has always been my plan"

FACTS

Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday dismissed reports that he was preparing to leave the Trump administration after the midterms, telling the New York Times that working for President Trump through the end of his term has "always been my plan."

"I don't know where these things come from, to be honest with you," Rubio said of the resignation chatter, according to the New York Post. "I love the work I'm doing. And plus I always laugh when they say he's going to leave his job. I go, 'Which one?'"

White House and State Department officials also rejected the reports. Rubio, who also serves as national security adviser, declined to discuss 2028: "I literally will not talk about 2028 anymore." He is scheduled to deliver his first major post-midterm speech next Friday at the Federalist Society's National Lawyers Convention.
