Secret Service arrests armed Venezuelan migrant near White House over alleged Trump assassination threat

FACTS

An illegal immigrant from Venezuela was arrested near the White House after officers found him in a stolen car with multiple guns and he reportedly threatened to kill President Donald Trump, DHS told Fox News.

U.S. Secret Service officers approached Ronny Yordrix Guanipa Chrinos Thursday evening after spotting him "acting suspicious in his car while it was parked on Constitution Avenue in Washington, D.C.," DHS said. The suspect told officers he had heard voices telling him to travel to the capital and kill Trump.

Officers learned the vehicle had been reported stolen. A search turned up three guns — including an AR-15-style rifle, a Mac 10 and a Glock 43X — plus dozens of rounds of ammunition.

Chrinos illegally entered through Texas in March 2024, was arrested by Border Patrol, and was later released into the country under the Biden administration, authorities said. After the White House-area arrest, ICE lodged a detainer with the U.S. Marshals Service, which has custody.
