A dark-money network tied to George Soros and his son Alex helped propel a record number of Democratic doctors and scientists into Congress this week — lawmakers whose careers, the New York Post reports, are built heavily on race, DEI, climate and gun-control activism rather than classic bedside medicine.
Among them is South Carolina Sen.-elect Dr. Annie Andrews, a pediatrician who has defended puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones for minors and whose research shifted after 2020 into firearms and "culturally appropriate interventions." California's Richard Pan, another pediatrician, once led the push to ban personal-belief vaccine exemptions in schools and has published DEI-focused papers on the pediatric workforce.
The Post also flags New Jersey Rep.-elect Dr. Adam Hamawy, a plastic surgeon who volunteered in Gaza and has faced scrutiny over past ties to Islamic extremists, including accompanying the Blind Sheikh — convicted in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing plot — on a 1991 road trip, according to the Investigative Project on Terrorism. Nineteen such Democrats are set to shape health policy next year.
