A Spokane County sheriff's deputy was killed and a second deputy is not expected to survive after a gunman opened fire on them at a home in Spangle, Washington, on Tuesday, The Spokesman-Review reports.
At about 2:25 p.m., a woman ran to a neighbor's house and said her brother had shot her, according to the paper. Deputies sent a drone over the home on South Smythe Road and spotted a body in the yard.
At about 3:15 p.m., deputies tried to break down the door and were met with gunfire, Sheriff John Nowels said. Three deputies returned fire. Another victim was found inside.
Two civilians and one deputy were killed. The 37-year-old suspect, who had an active felony warrant and a history of weapons violations, also died at the scene. Officials have not said how. The woman's injuries are not life-threatening.
