A billboard over Enghelab Square in central Tehran went up Tuesday reading "We will kill Trump" in Persian and English, with the president drawn behind bars, head bowed. It promotes Wednesday's rally marking the 1979 takeover of the U.S. embassy, Iran International reports. AFP photographers saw it too.
A second display nearby shows Trump, JD Vance, Steve Witkoff and Benjamin Netanyahu with bloodied faces and torn suits in front of ragged U.S. and Israeli flags. Dozens of people gathered under it with red flags and banners reading "There will be blood," calling for revenge for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in the Feb. 28 U.S.-Israeli strikes. In Tajrish Square to the north, an open-air exhibit shows Trump's bloodied face under a boot, and an actor playing Trump sits all day in a replica jail cell.
Billboards like these are state-sponsored in Iran. This one went up while both sides are talking about a deal to keep the fighting from starting again. Trump has said a deal "could happen."
