Toledo police evacuated Beverly Elementary School, a polling place, after a bomb threat at about 10:27 a.m. Tuesday. Voting stopped for about an hour and 15 minutes while the Northwest Ohio Bomb Squad and bomb-sniffing dogs searched the building. Police found nothing and called the threat non-credible. Voters went back inside at 12:15 p.m., WTOL 11 reports.
About 40 people waited outside through the search. Only one voter gave up and left, according to Lucas County's deputy elections director. The board brought in four extra ballot-marking devices to clear the line. Five other schools in the area got threats Tuesday too, 13abc reports, including Monac Elementary in Toledo. All were cleared.
The Ohio Secretary of State's office confirmed that a bomb threat briefly disrupted voting at a single polling place. Polls in Ohio close at 7:30 p.m. Anyone who left Beverly Elementary this morning can go back and vote before then. Toledo Councilman Adam Martinez is asking for extra hours, which would take a court order.
