President Donald Trump said Friday the United States is "doing very well with Iran" and is still talking to Tehran even as his administration weighs whether to resume military strikes, Fox News reports.
"We are doing very well with Iran. We're talking to Iran," Trump told reporters. "We have been we haven't lost a soldier in seven months or six months. We have the Hormuz Strait opening, doing more business than they've ever done with oil. And we're doing very well. And we are talking to them."
His remarks came after Iran reportedly submitted a nuclear proposal to Washington through Qatari intermediaries Thursday, with demands that include sanctions relief, compensation for war damages and a reduced U.S. military presence. Trump met his national security team this week on whether to go further. Speaking later at the UP Summit at Kennedy Space Center, he credited American B-2 bombers with preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons and reiterated that Iran will never have a nuclear weapon.
