ATTRIBUTED CLAIMS
President Trump has been asking allies about the job performance of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine, after advisers assured him the Iran war would be over well before the midterms, The Atlantic reported, citing two outside advisers close to Trump. Advisers also told the magazine a new round of strikes on Iran could come soon after Tuesday's vote.
"Hegseth is good at telling the president what he wants to hear," one adviser told The Atlantic. Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell called that "dead wrong." White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly said Trump has "full confidence" in both men.
