Trump orders DOJ probe after Democrats threaten to impeach Blanche and others

FACTS

President Trump said Saturday he has ordered the Justice Department to investigate Democrats for allegedly threatening administration officials with impeachment and other punishment after the party retook Congress.

"The Democrats are going around threatening a lot of people, including the Attorney General of the United States, and others, with Impeachment and many other forms of punishment, even though they admit they have no reason to do so," Trump wrote on Truth Social. He said no "impeachable acts" had been committed and called the alleged pressure a "criminal act," urging that "these EXTORTIONISTS" be imprisoned.

Since Election Day, Reps. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) and Deborah Ross (D-N.C.) have said they support impeaching Attorney General Todd Blanche; Ross added Democrats "should start with Hegseth." Trump also accused Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.) of wanting to deter young people from serving in a Republican administration, citing her October remarks at the University of Chicago about "signature cases" against people who "enabled" Trump. He further claimed Democrats have threatened Republican donors with imprisonment; Reuters has reported Democrats plan donor and corporate investigations once they take control.
