President Donald Trump spoke by phone Friday with Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amiri Diwan said, as Doha pressed diplomatic efforts to cool the Iran war.
The two leaders reviewed strategic ties and regional developments, with particular focus on mediation aimed at de-escalating tensions, according to a statement carried by The Peninsula Qatar. They discussed international efforts — including Qatar's role bridging gaps between the parties — toward a comprehensive agreement that restores security and stability.
Sheikh Tamim stressed continuing dialogue and diplomatic means to settle disputes, prevent further escalation, and protect freedom of navigation and energy-supply security. The call comes a day after Trump said a decision on whether to go further against Iran is coming soon, and as Tehran has floated nuclear terms through Qatar while insisting Washington meet seven demands before talks.
