At 2:38 p.m., with NY-17 still one of the closest House races in the country, President Trump posted a message on Truth Social addressed to "the Jewish community in Monsey, New York, and its surrounding neighborhoods." He said the community voted for him "in very big numbers" in 2024 and told it to vote for Rep. Mike Lawler today.
Trump called Lawler "a tremendous friend to the Jewish community and a strong leader in the fight against antisemitism," and said he has stood up "for Religious Freedom and School Choice." Then came the line that matters most in Rockland: "Working together with your State Senator Bill Weber, Mike will continue to be your voice, and fight for you and your family!"
That is aimed squarely at the split ticket. Both Satmar communities in Monsey, along with Vizhnitz, Pupa, Belz, Munkatch and Skver, endorsed Democrat Joe Rand over Weber in the 38th Senate District while still backing Lawler. Eighteen Rockland rabbonim signed a letter for Weber, Lawler and Bruce Blakeman. Trump has now put his name on the Republican side of that fight, hours before the polls close at 9 p.m.
