A U.S. Marine died after a training incident at Camp Schwab in Okinawa, Japan, military officials said, Fox News reports.

The Marine was identified as Lance Cpl. Devin J. Hernandez, 25, of Maryland, assigned to the 3rd Marine Division. The division said he was participating in fast-rope training when he was injured, was taken to a hospital, and later died. The death remains under investigation.

Maj. Gen. Kyle Ellison, commanding general of the 3rd Marine Division, said the division was mourning the loss and focusing on supporting Hernandez's family, friends and fellow Marines while investigators examine the circumstances.
