Senior U.S. officials told Fox News that President Donald Trump met with his national security team Wednesday and Thursday to decide whether to resume major military operations against Iran — and noted that November 9 brings a new moon across the Middle East, with little to no moonlight that may favor military operations.
Trump told reporters in the Oval Office Thursday that Washington would make a decision on going further to ensure Iran's nuclear program is finished. I would rather not destroy the rest of the country if possible, but maybe I will have to. You'll know soon enough, he said.
U.S. Central Command is finalizing preparations for a potential resumption of major operations but has not received a new directive from Washington, according to reports citing a U.S. official. The timeline lands days after Republican midterm losses and as Doha presses de-escalation talks.
