The aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt and Carrier Strike Group 9, with the cruiser USS Chosin and destroyers USS Paul Hamilton and USS Decatur, are in the South China Sea heading toward U.S. Central Command after the Keen Sword exercise with Japan, according to the USNI News fleet tracker. The Jerusalem Post reported last week that the carrier was bound for the Middle East amid tensions with Iran. Open-source trackers on X said Tuesday it had been spotted near the Strait of Malacca; we have not confirmed that location.
Separately, UA.News reported a stream of U.S. Air Force C-17 transport flights from Biggs Army Airfield at Fort Bliss, Texas, to Uvda in southern Israel since Oct. 26. OSINT accounts on X reported six more C-17s en route on Tuesday, which we could not independently confirm.
The movements come a day after U.S. forces struck an Iranian air-defense site on Qeshm Island and as Iran's Revolutionary Guards vow a response "without geographical limits." Carrier and airlift moves can be routine rotations, so they are a possible signal, not proof, of new operations.
