FACTS
The Utah County Sheriff's Office has released video of a hiker sliding hundreds of feet down the 11,700-foot summit of Mount Timpanogos before coming to a stop on a narrow cliff ledge, and of the helicopter crew that hoisted her to safety.
The woman fell on Oct. 26, the sheriff's office said. "Our Search and Rescue pilot was able to spot the hiker from our airplane as we began to deploy SAR team members to the mountain," the agency said in a social media update Wednesday.
The sheriff's office said the hiker is recovering well. "This incident is a stark reminder of how fast a fun outing can turn into a life-or-death situation," it said.
