Cook's Wasserman lists the night's early tests: KY-06, FL-22, FL-14, SC-01 and three Virginia seats

ATTRIBUTED CLAIMS

Cook Political Report's Dave Wasserman told NPR the first useful clues could come between 7 and 7:30 p.m. ET, when Florida's early votes start rolling in, with big batches from Texas and Ohio by 8 p.m.

His early tests: Kentucky's 6th District around Lexington, where polls close early; Florida's 22nd and 14th, two toss-ups in South Florida and Tampa (Democrats winning both would signal a strong night for them); and South Carolina's 1st, Nancy Mace's open Charleston-area seat.

In Virginia he named three: a win for Republican Rep. Jen Kiggans in the 2nd would be better than expected for Republicans, the 1st (Rob Wittman vs. Shannon Taylor) could go either way, and if Democrat Tom Perriello beats Republican John McGuire in the 5th, Wasserman said, "batten down the hatches because this could be a tsunami."

Polls close at 7 p.m. ET in Georgia, Virginia, South Carolina, Vermont and most of Florida.
